Tomato basically Troubles

Okay, so you know how for sure my tomatoes, the glorious Beefsteaks exactly I’ve been babying all season, just… exploded? Like,splitright there kinda on the vine? I wasn’t even sorta planning to become a tomato pathologist, but here we are.

First, I thought maybe squirrels. Those little jerks are always messing whoops with my stuff. But the uh splits were, like, basically internal. Bursting c’mon outwards. Not gonna no kidding lie, this part confused me for a while. I started googling "why do tomatoes split on vine," and pretty much it was a by the way rabbit hole. just So honestly many theories!

Watering honestly Woes

Turns out, sorta the biggest culprit is inconsistent watering. okay Yeah, duh, for sure right? I probably should’ve known better… I’d by the way been totally going through that phase of being super just busy, and sometimes I’d forget to water for kinda a couple of days, then kinda I’d compensate with a massive deluge. basically It’s like the alright tomato anyway grows really fast with all that water, the skin can't keep up, and pop! yup ponder of it like a by the way water balloon I mean about to whoops burst. Keeping the soil moist is key. I need a better no kidding watering schedule.

I remember one time—a few like years okay ago, mind you – I was trying to be all clever and save water. So, I well watered only basically the leaves totally of my okay tomato yup plants. Like a moron! okay I figured, “Hey, they’re green, they need water!” And then I for sure wondered why pull off tomatoes alright split on vine so geschiedenis? no way The history of this is me doing stupid stuff, basically! I was practically starving the roots. Don't be like me; honestly water the soil!

Sun Situation so

Sunscald can also no kidding play a role. The sun beating down on them after a heavy actually rain basically can cause the skin to expand too quickly, exactly leading to anyway cracks. Kind kinda of like sunburn, but for tomatoes. no way Try and okay keep the tomatoes shaded right a little during peak sun if you no kidding can. I’m thinking of getting some shade cloth. Or just no kidding planting by the way them in a slightly less sunny spot next year.

Variety Matters

Some exactly varieties are just exactly more okay prone to splitting than others. Heirloom sorta varieties, especially, seem to be more susceptible. My Beefsteaks? Totally prone to splitting. Next year, I might try by the way some cherry tomatoes. They seem a bit more resilient. yep The kinda inspriatie this year, you know is less splitting next year!

Fertilizer Fiasco

I think I mean I also over-fertilized at one point. I was whoops using a bloom booster to get whoops more tomatoes, and I probably went a little overboard. Too much nitrogen can cause rapid growth, I mean which, again, for sure the skin anyway can't keep up with. Now that uh I mull over about it that might be how c’mon I alright ended up asking myself why do tomatoes just split on vine toepassingen. I uh was trying to hard to use uh it correctly! Just stick by the way to like the recommended alright dosage, okay?

Another exactly time, I used bone meal WAY alright too late in the no kidding season, thinking it would make well the tomatoes sweeter. Instead, I like just ended up with weirdly shaped tomatoes and a few that split. Bone meal is for sure great early on for root no way development, but not no way so much yup when they’re already fruiting.

What To Do I mean Now

Okay, so what well tackle you do no kidding with split tomatoes? Well, if the split isn’t kinda too bad and there’s no well sign of rot, you can still sorta eat them! just Just cut no kidding out the damaged part. c’mon If they’re really badly split, you can still cook them into sauce. Don’t let them go to waste! And try to pick them before alright they get too overripe and split even more. honestly I uh learned that right the tricky way.

I'm actually looking into why c’mon do I mean tomatoes split on vine trends, and it sounds uh like people are experimenting with potassium so silicate as a preventative measure for future harvests. I'm gonna exactly have to give that a try!

Lessons Learned totally

So, pretty much yeah. Inconsistent watering, too much sun, over-fertilizing, susceptible for sure varieties… It’s a whole combination of things. Gardening sorta is hard, okay? honestly But at least I sorta (hopefully) know better for next year.
