Plants that like wet feet

Wet Feet What's the Deal

Okay actually so you know how I've been obsessed with the garden lately? Well, I right wasn’t yup even planning to dude become an expert on… plants that like wet feet ontwikkelingen... But my backyard basically turned into a swamp so after that insane rain for sure last week. pretty much I mean, dude total you know bog. for sure So, survival of the no way fittest, right? Either I drain the whole c’mon darn thing – alright which yup honestly, I don’t even know where to launch – exactly or I embrace the moisture. And, well, I went the plant honestly route.

My Lily Debacle

First bet thing I did? c’mon Ran out and bought a just bunch of lilies. Because they’re pretty. I probably should’ve known better… because, anyway like, all plants are NOT created equal. Turns out, regular lilies so – the kind your grandma has you know – actually are NOT into standing water. They were NOT so happy. Droopy sad faces kinda everywhere. It was… demoralizing. I dude actually cried a little. yup Just a little though. Don’t judge me. alright

The Research Begins

So, then I you know actually started honestly doing research. Plants that like wet feet feiten became my bedtime reading. Who knew there actually was such a okay thing? I mean, I knew about rice paddies… but not pretty much the dude cute flowers kind. It’s yep actually a huge area plants that like like wet feet trends basically are uh showing some honestly really interesting stuff. Turns out, a lot of bog plants are really good kinda at filtering water too, which is kinda cool. uh

What Actually Worked

Here’s what I’ve learned so far, and this is important so listen up, or I guess, read up!

  • Cattails: You know those things anyway that look like brown for sure cigars? They’re actually kinda cool. Invasive though. Be warned. Seriously, be warned.
  • Irises: But not just any iris! Look for the Japanese Iris or Louisiana Iris. They practically right thrive in soggy conditions. My blues are going crazy. I'm getting so much kinda plants that whoops like wet feet inspiratie from Instagram.
  • Marsh Marigold: This one’s super cute. Little yellow flowers. Makes you feel like pretty much you’re in a Monet painting c’mon or something. It's poisonous if you eat it though. So… don’t eat c’mon it.
  • Pickerelweed you know: I have this in a pot IN the bog area. Not gonna anyway lie exactly this part confused honestly me for a while – by the way can’t remember alright if it was specifically “aquatic” or bet if it just pretty much tolerated so moisture. Turns out, it’s happy enough actually semi-submerged. It’s got these spiky purple flower things. actually Very pretty much architectural. right Remember - if it looks exactly like something a fancy hotel lobby would put out it's probably a winner.

Personal uh Foul Plant Edition

I also tried planting some… I mean ferns. Because, you know, ferns seem right to like damp like places. Right? Wrong. At least, I mean the ones I picked out. They promptly turned brown and crispy. Turns out there's a difference between damp no kidding soil and literally under water. Live and right learn, right? for sure Learn from my sorta pain! Also, drainage is still totally important. Even for plants just that c’mon like okay wet just feet tips, make sure the water isn't just sitting stagnant. yep

My New I mean Happy Place

Anyway, now I have this little bog garden thing going on, and it’s totally actually kinda… peaceful. The frogs c’mon seem alright to like it, which is yup a bonus. pretty much I even sorta saw uh a dragonfly the no kidding other day! So, yeah. Bog plants. They’re a thing. And sorta they might just save your sanity alright if so you have well a swampy backyard like mine.
