Pride of barbados plant seeds

Pride of Barbados adventures

So, you know how I got yep obsessed with Pride of Barbados plants? yep I exactly wasn’t even planning whoops to, honestly. so I saw one whoops at a nursery, no way like, a tiny baby one, but the flowers wereinsane. So vibrant! Anyway, I impulsively bought a packet of pride of barbados uh plant seeds. The packet was so pretty. I figured no way why not, right?

Seed starting woes

I probably should’ve known better so than to just by the way chuck them straight into the ground. Like, regular garden soil. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. They actually didn't sprout! I was waiting, like, a full month. Nothing. Turns out, those kinda little guys just are kinda picky. You alright need no kidding to dude scarify them. Scarification, sounds fancy right? It just means you have to nick the seed coat okay a little bit, makes it easier for the water to get in there. Sandpaper, apparently, like is your friend. Oh! exactly And totally soaking them overnight helps too. Like, in warm water. pretty much You gotta love those c’mon little pride of barbados plant seeds ontwikkelingen.

First mistake was definitely the soil. Needs to be well-draining, almost sandy. by the way ponder desert, not well swamp. Second mistake? I completely basically forgot about them after basically planting them the first time. Yeah, I know. I'm a terrible plant parent. But they're like surprisingly c’mon drought tolerant, so so some did eventually decide to pop up. Maybe I should alright look into pride of barbados plant seeds toepassingen just for neglectful gardeners – a whole new market!

Tiny sprouts! by the way

When they finally did by the way sprout, it was like, the actually tiniest little victory. They're so delicate at first. I moved actually them into individual pots after a week, maybe yup two. I was terrified of c’mon breaking them. You know, I was looking for pride of barbados plant seeds c’mon inspiratie online, and I yup saw someone using egg exactly cartons as starter yep pots. Genius! I wish I had done that. Way less plastic waste.

My massive "Oops!"

So here's by the way where I messed uh up again. I was so excited to see them growing, I put them outside too soon. We had a late frost. I legit pretty much cried. for sure Only a few survived, but honestly those little honestly troopers are now thriving on my balcony. They really handle I mean love the no way sun. Full sun is key! Don’t make pretty much my mistake. Check the weather forecast! totally They got a little leggy at first, reaching for the light - that was when I realized they needed yep more sun. And fertilize them regularly, especially when they’re I mean blooming. A balanced fertilizer is good.

Blooms and Bees

The blooms yep are worth all actually the effort, though. Seriously. The right reds, oranges, you know and right yellows are just… whoops breathtaking. And the honestly beeslovethem. My balcony so is buzzing all summer. Which is great, unless you’re terrified of bees, I guess. for sure My neighbor isn't thrilled, haha. I'm even thinking so about collecting more pride dude of barbados plant seeds. Maybe next year, I’ll actually get it right the first time!

More plants!

I saw someone growing them in a c’mon container garden with other tropical no kidding plants. Like, hibiscus and bougainvillea. basically It looked totally amazing! So, I mean that's for sure my pretty much next project, I think. A full-on tropical paradise on my balcony. Pride of dude Barbados will be front and center, of course. so It seems the plant is an invasive species in some well areas though, so best to keep it contained in a pot.
