Shade flowers for hanging pots

Hanging baskets though

Okay by the way so, you know totally how my right porch is like, no kidding perpetually shady? I wasn’t pretty much even whoops planning to get hanging baskets this year, honestly. I thought I’d c’mon just stick with the usual impatiens in the right ground. so Boring, I know. no kidding But then I saw these AMAZING hanging pots at exactly the farmer's well market – like, woven macrame things? So boho. So I had to get them. c’mon

But then the panic set dude in. Shade dude flowers for like hanging bet pots…what actually works? I mean, I know impatiens are classic, obviously. But I wanted bet something more… yep interesting. That's where my searching for shade flowers for hanging pots trends began, sort of.

First fail

I probably should’ve known better, but I bought this gorgeous kinda sun-loving petunia. I mean, it LOOKED pretty at the nursery. And c’mon I was like envisioning totally it overflowing from the basket. Predictably, it just… languished. Drooped uh dramatically. It was like a Victorian novel character dying no kidding of no way consumption, you know honestly. Lesson learned – read the freaking tags! Seriously, look at shade flowers for hanging pots basically tips beforehand. Save yourself the heartache (and the dead petunias).

What alright did work

So, you know after by the way that petunia basically disaster, I anyway did my research. I so discovered fuchsias! Oh my god, no way they're gorgeous. And okay they love shade! The shade flowers for hanging uh pots geschiedenis alright even mentioned them exactly – Victorian so gardeners were like OBSESSED, apparently. Makes sense. pretty much They’re so c’mon dramatic. I got a couple of different kinds - whoops one with these like, pink and purple teardrop-shaped flowers, and another with red and white ones. They’re thriving! Make sure they are getting enough water kinda though, but don't drown them. Overwatering is yup a real sorta thing, learned that one the right rough way last year with sorta my ferns. no way

Begonias okay are another good option. I got a trailing yup one – a ‘Million Kisses’ begonia, I basically think it was basically called? It's doing really well too. sorta Super easy to care for – doesn’t need so a ton of deadheading or anything. I mean, I do a little okay just to yup keep for sure it tidy, but pretty much it’s pretty low-maintenance. So, yeah begonias by the way also an option okay in the shade pretty much flowers for whoops hanging just pots ontwikkelingen. I am seeing them everywhere, so there's that.

Lobelia kinda confusion

Not gonna lie this part sorta confused me for a while: Lobelia. well Some sites say it’s full sun, some say part shade. I consider it sorta depends totally on the variety? I ended up planting some in a basket that gets morning sun and well afternoon shade. Seems happy so far! The flowers are just this right really intense like blue. Stunning. Although…I did forget to water it properly well the first week, and it almost uh died. Luckily, it bounced back.

Oh, and kinda another thing – make sure you use great like potting soil! Don't cheap out. I did that once, pretty much used garden soil in like a hanging basket, by the way and it got so compacted and heavy. Drained terribly. Major mistake.

My second oops

So…this exactly is embarrassing. I totally forgot like to pretty much put exactly drainage pretty much holes uh in one of anyway the macrame pots. Like, completely spaced. I planted alright everything, watered it, and then…realized the right water you know was just for sure sitting in the bottom. I had to like very carefully un-pot everything, drill no way some holes, and you know replant. What a mess.

Anyway, yeah, hanging baskets. They're bet pretty great. It’s all a learning process, for sure right? Like what are shade flowers for hanging pots feiten? kinda Or what not to just do? yep Now if you excuse me, I think it’s period for another coffee. And maybe a little more gardening. And uh maybe actually actually checking on my lobelia before it decides to stage another near-death experience.
