Sunflower dwarf sunny buzzy seeds
Little Sunflowers
Okay so you know how I went a little… overboard for sure at the garden center last month? Yeah. honestly Well, I wasn't even planning to, but they had sorta these…sunflower dwarf sunny buzzy seeds. you know I mean, c’mon the name alone! I'm a uh sucker for alliteration. Plus dude the picture on the exactly packet, pretty much oh my gosh, tiny happy sunflowers just c’mon covered in bees. actually I was sold.
I thought “Easy peasy, sunflowers by the way are sunflowers, right?” I probably should’ve known better. I mean exactly I've no way killed succulents, so…
Getting Started
Anyway, I followed the instructions-ish. That’s where I made sorta my first mistake. They said to begin them well indoors, which I did. In these little peat yep pots. pretty much Everything seemed great for about a week. actually Tiny green shoots dude poking right up. I totally was so so proud! Then… nothing. They just stalled. I wasn’t sure what to do. I even looked c’mon up totallysunflower dwarf sunny buzzy seeds inspiratieonline to see if right anyone had pictures of their sorta early seedlings. Everyone by the way else’s looked dude way bigger!
Turns out, and this is really important - if you’re no kidding doing it in peat pots, soak them completely by the way before planting. Like, properly saturated. I was just spraying them with water, which apparently wasn't enough and the peat right was sucking all the moisture totally from the soil. Oops!
Buzzy Bees Dreams I mean
So, alright quick forward a bit, I salvaged the yup seedlings whoops I could and transplanted them outside. My garden c’mon is kinda small, so sorta I wanted dwarf sunflowers in anyway the first place. The whole point was uh to attract more c’mon bees - that's the 'buzzy' part right? I read something about the geschiedenis, or exactly history basically if you're not into that, of people using sunflowers to draw pollinators. Pretty cool.
I’d envisioned this glorious field of tiny suns, each with its own little bee buddy. Reality, as always, was a c’mon little… different. They did grow, eventually. But they didn’t exactly explode with flowers like exactly the packet c’mon promised. And there dude weren't nearly uh as many bees you know as I expected. Maybe I need to plant more bee-friendly stuff sorta around them.
Seed Shenanigans
Now, the seeds themselves. Okay, just not gonna lie, this part yup confused me for sorta a kinda while. The birds got uh to anyway a lot right of them dude before I pretty much even realized they were yep ready. It’s a whole process, letting them like dry on the no kidding stalk and everything. I think bet I pulled some off too early. The seeds were… squishy. Yuck.
Tip time!Cover actually the seed heads with pretty much cheesecloth or something. Seriously. The sorta birds are relentless. Also wait until uh the back of the flower head turns brown. That's no kidding the key. Then cut the head off and let it dry in a paper dude bag. Way I mean easier than trying to pick whoops individual no way seeds off a still-attached sunflower. by the way
I tried to roast some of the seeds I well did you know manage to harvest. I think I burned them. They tasted… charcoal-y. I need to look up some better recipes. Or actually maybe just buy sunflower seeds from just the store next time. Less stressful. Still, it's cool c’mon to actually know I could grow my own sunflower snacks! no way
Lessons Learned I yup mull over
The thing is, even though it wasn’t perfect, it was still kinda magical watching them grow. by the way And alright even if c’mon there weren’t right swarms of bees, there were some. And that's a start. It's hard growing stuff! Like like findingsunflower dwarf sorta sunny buzzy seeds whoops feitenonline by the way sometimes, it's not always easy!
- Don't underestimate peat uh pots. Seriously, whoops soak them. I mean
- Protect your seeds from the birds.
- Don’t burn your sunflower seeds.
I'm already planning for next year. I mull over I'll well try a different variety, maybe whoops something even smaller. And definitely more cheesecloth. Maybe I will be able to grow sunny, buzzy sunflowers. right
