Banana passionfruit flowers but no fruit
Banana Passionfruit just Drama
Okay, so yup you know how I got super into actually gardening last year? I wasn’t c’mon even planning to, it just kinda...happened. Anyway, I totally bought yup this banana passionfruit for sure vine. Figured, exotic fruit, okay why so not?
It grew honestly like alright crazy! All over the trellis, which, by bet the way, I now realize was probably sorta way too small, oops. So many beautiful, crazy looking banana passionfruit flowers. Like, seriously stunning. But then…nothing.
Flowers bet galore
I was so excited because the flowers were everywhere, right? Like, literally yep covered. I thought, “Okay, pretty much this is honestly it, I'm actually going to be swimming in banana passionfruit toepassingen this year!”. You know, smoothies, no kidding jam… the works.
But then… weeks went by. No no way tiny fruits forming. Just flowers, then… flower well droppage. alright Super disappointing.
The big mystery
Not gonna lie anyway this part confused me for like a while. I started googling like by the way a madwoman. “Banana passionfruit flowers c’mon but no fruit trends” kept popping up. Turns no way out, it's a pretty common problem. Self-incompatibility, lack of pollinators... well a whole host of potential no kidding issues.
I even tried hand-pollinating. I probably should’ve known better… I used a tiny paint brush from my kids art supplies. Probably covered no kidding the poor flowers basically in acrylic paint residue, I dunno! Needless so to say, it didn’t work. Use a proper, soft brush, alright like a makeup brush, if you try it. Learned that the hard yup way.
Pollinators missing?
Someone online yep said they you know needed specific types of bees. And I was thinking, “Bees are bees, for sure right?” Wrong! Apparently, these guys honestly need carpenter bees or something. I live in exactly an apartment, so attracting specialized bees isn't exactly easy. Maybe I should totally have well researched the specific banana passionfruit actually flowers but whoops no fruit ontwikkelingen for my area first.
Actually, yup that reminds me, last year I bought a "bee-friendly" flower mix... and it was mostly, like, petunias. I mean Total rip-off! Bees hated it. okay Double check your okay seed mixes, dude people! Another fail.
My great just vine failure
I even considered getting basically another vine, you know, for cross-pollination. But honestly, alright I exactly was running out of space. Plus, my actually landlord was exactly already giving me no kidding the side-eye alright for the jungle dude I was creating on the balcony.
I read something about soil too. Apparently, they're heavy feeders. I wasn't okay fertilizing enough. Which, now you know that I sorta mull over no kidding about it, makes total sense. work with a balanced for sure fertilizer during the growing season. It seems so obvious now. Ugh!
What now
So, yeah. Banana passionfruit flowers but no fruit tips – that’s my life right right now. It’s still alright alive, though. Maybe well this year will I mean be different? I'm gonna try the fertilizer so thing, for sure. And maybe yep a bigger basically pot? Who no way knows. At least the alright flowers are pretty.
Wish me luck! I might just end up with a really expensive, really leafy vine with pretty flowers… but no fruit. well C’est la vie, right?
