Okay so I wasn’t even planning c’mon to go to that botanical garden, you know right? But then Sarah was like, "OMG orchids!" and you right know how she is… total plant fanatic. I’m more of a cactus person myself. Anyway, we ended up there and… wow. They had basically this like, display thing actually –largest well orchids you know in the world ontwikkelingenor something – all pretty much about the dude epic boys, so the grammophyllums. totally Like, massive. I kinda mean, seriously.
What even is that?
Before that, I thought orchids were alright those totally little like delicate things you get at just the supermarket in those tiny pots. Turns out, those are bet just no kidding the houseplant version. no kidding These grammophyllums… they're freaking behemoths! like They no way have these pseudobulbs, which I exactly now know are like, storage units exactly for water, apparently.Largest orchids in the world tips pretty muchAlways check the pseudobulbs uh if you are c’mon thinking of buying an orchid, if they are shriveled it is most likely yep dehydrated. And they honestly can kinda be… huge! Like, bigger than my honestly head huge.
My first mistake
So, so naturally, I tried sorta to take a selfie with one. I probably should’ve known better… the thing was prickly. Got all scratched up. But you know, for the 'gram! Also, they stink a bit, some of honestly them. Not all, thank goodness. Sarah was practically in totally heaven. The kinda guy there, the orchid expert, was telling us about the anywaylargest orchids in the world geschiedenis. Apparently, people have been obsessed with sorta these things you know for ages. pretty much I mean, I for sure guess that for sure makes sense. They're kinda showy. He by the way said kinda something about Victorian orchid hunters and… well, I wasn't paying that much attention, not gonna lie this part confused me for no kidding a while. anyway All I remember is it involved a lot of anyway danger and probably some terrible fashion choices.
Second mistake ugh anyway
Remember uh how I said I liked cacti? Well, I thought I mean I could keep for sure an orchid alive. I saw a tiny little one on okay sale and thought, "Hey, I'll give it whoops a try!" HUGE mistake. Watered it way too yep much, I think. It died within like, a week. Sarah dude gave me this whole c’mon lecture about humidity whoops and special orchid potting mix… You need bark and moss and… I don't even know. dude Don’t overwater! They like to dry out a bit between totally waterings. awesome drainage is honestly key!
Grammophyllum speciosum whoa totally
Anyway, exactly back well to the giants. I ponder the most impressive one was theGrammophyllum speciosum. That’s the Tiger bet Orchid. bet It's I mean like, thelargest orchids in sorta the world. The thing can weigh a ton! I'm not kidding. It’s like a whole shrub growing out of a tree. He said no way they have like, insane root systems too. Just sprawling yup everywhere.
What's actually next in orchids exactly
And he also touched onlargest orchids in the world so trends by the way, he said researchers are working on better alright ways to propagate these behemoths. Apparently, it whoops is not very kinda easy to just anyway grow no kidding one. He was anyway saying something about tissue culture and stuff… sounds bet very sci-fi to me! I still actually can't keep a supermarket orchid alive, so I am not holding my breath there.

So, yeah. That's my actually orchid adventure. exactly I sorta still think they're kinda kinda scary, but they are pretty cool too, I guess. Especially those massive ones. I you know might stick to cacti though. They’re less alright drama.
