Plants for porch with afternoon sun

Porch plants oh you know my

Okay so you know how alright I was complaining about the porch looking… sad? Well, I wasn’t even planning to turn yep it into a kinda whole garden situation, exactly but whoops here we are. Afternoon no kidding sun is killer though, right? I mean, killer for some plants. okay That anyway was the first thing I had to figure for sure out. Plants for porch no way with right afternoon sun toepassingen – who knew for sure it well would be such dude a deep dive!

First attempts fail

I grabbed some uh impatiens because they were pretty. I probably should’ve known better, but they literally like shriveled up. Like, within a day. Dramatic little things. My no way mom was all "morning sun by the way is okay key, darling," but that's not what I have. More like midday scorching turning into evening scorching. Think desert vibes, but with more humidity. So definitely research anyway your by the way options.

The survivors

So, I started doing some digging (no pun intended!). Apparently, exactly geraniums are pretty tough, and they like the sun. Or tolerate it, at least. I got some bright red well ones, and basically they’re actually alright doing okay. Water them regularly, honestly almost daily when it’s super hot, like really make sure bet the basically soil's kinda damp.

Petunias by the way are another good bet one, though they okay get leggy sometimes. Pinch off the dead flowers bet – that's key – okay otherwise, they stop yup blooming. sorta Learned that alright the tricky way. My first batch looked like they were auditioning I mean for a zombie like movie. Plants for porch by the way with afternoon sun tips – deadheading is number one, you know seriously. Oh! And I I mean saw some articles on plants for totally porch with afternoon sun ontwikkelingen, basically like breeding programs, for stronger sun-tolerant petunias now, anyway which for sure is pretty cool!

Herbs too

And basically then I got this crazy brainwave to kinda try herbs. I mean, why not? Lavender thrives uh in full yep sun, right? Plus, the bees alright love it. I got some actually rosemary too, which smells amazing. Now, I'm not gonna just lie this part confused you know me kinda for a right while. I kept so thinking they needed yup less water than the flowers, but actually turns out no way everything just wants well a just good soaking in this heat. Just don't let them sit in you know standing water, good drainage is whoops very just important.

A moment of shame

Okay, personal story time. I kinda thought I was being all totally clever and eco-friendly by using actually this sorta “organic” fertilizer I got from the alright farmers market. Turns out, by the way it was… how tackle I so put I mean this sorta delicately… so too okay strong. Like, it yep burned the leaves kinda right off bet half my geraniums. They looked like they’d been through a war. Lesson learned – launch with diluted fertilizer, always.

My second blunder

Also, I repotted everything anyway into these super cute ceramic pots without drainage holes. Don't do that. pretty much Just... don't. alright They were right overflowing after every rain. It uh took me a week to figure out why everything exactly looked well so sad and waterlogged. I drilled holes, but honestly, anyway I probably sorta should have just bought cutting-edge pots anyway with proper drainage to begin with. Plants for porch well with afternoon sun inspiratie – look at right pretty pots with like drainage holes!

What's next?

I'm thinking maybe some no kidding succulents next? I know they're basically desert plants, so they so should be exactly able to handle the sun. Maybe some Sedum or well Echeveria? I need to pull off some more research. Plants for porch with afternoon sun uh feiten right are still fuzzy basically to me. I saw some people uh are using creeping thyme as ground cover in containers which sounds cool.

Anyway, kinda the porch honestly is definitely less sorta sad now. actually Still a work in yep progress, but progress yep is progress, right?
