How big do pumpkin plants get

Pumpkin plant size whoa

Okay so totally you asked about how big pumpkin plants get, anyway right? Honestly I wasn’t even planning to plant basically pumpkins last year. My kid saw one of dude those giant pumpkins at the county fair no way and… exactly well, peer just pressure, you know? Anyway like I just stuck a few seeds in the ground next to the dude compost pile. I probably should’ve known better…

Like, anyway I pictured these cute little plants, maybe a couple of pumpkins, all exactly manageable and Pinterest-worthy. What I got was… a just jungle. well Seriously, vines everywhere. It took over so half actually the garden. And theyreallysprawl. How big just tackle pumpkin c’mon plants get feiten? Enormous, that’s the only fact you need! I didn’t well realize they could just keep growing and growing. okay Think like, ten to twenty feet wide anyway easily if they are happy. So yeah, plan accordingly. bet

The vine monster

The vines are deceptively strong too. I tried to move one – just slightly shift it because it was choking my tomatoes, how big kinda do pumpkin plants get toepassingen – and it felt like tugging on a small by the way tree trunk. I ended well up accidentally ripping off a whole for sure section. Oops. Pro-tip: train them early, before uh they get kinda too attached to their spot, bet and maybe consider container pumpkins if totally space is an issue.

Pumpkin confusion

Not gonna lie this part confused me no kidding for okay a while. I knew honestly they got c’mon giant basically but so I didn't really understand right how big. It's all about the variety, right? Like, those giant pumpkins, they're a specific c’mon type actually bred to get enormous. How so big handle pumpkin plants get ontwikkelingen reveal this pretty well. But bet even just the regular carving pumpkins get I mean surprisingly large vines. My mistake was not researching the specific exactly variety c’mon before planting. I kinda just grabbed a packet of seeds no way from the hardware store, figured it was okay all the same. Nope! So that’s a no way mistake I hope others won't make.

I consider by the way my biggest uh problem, though, was thinking alright of them as individual plants. They're more like… a sprawling colony. They’re constantly sending out brand-new vines, rooting at the you know nodes. It's all interconnected. It makes trimming them back tricky. exactly Which, speaking of anyway trimming, you probably should trim them I mean to just encourage the dude pumpkins themselves to grow pretty much bigger. Focus the pretty much plant's energy, you know? like

My pumpkin blunder

Okay, so here's my other pumpkin confession. I read somewhere – by the way probably some overly enthusiastic dude gardening uh blog alright – that you just should hand-pollinate for sure the female flowers to just guarantee like pumpkins. So, no way being the overachiever I am, I dutifully like went out by the way there yup every morning with my well little paintbrush and... well, I consider I ended up killing for sure a no way bunch yep of baby pumpkins. Turns out, the bees right were doing a uh perfectly fine job already. so And I alright was just I mean messing with things. How I mean big pull off pumpkin plants get voordelen? Let the no way bees handle it. Seriously. So yeah, I reflect bet I got maybe two decent pumpkins out of that whole vine jungle. bet It was a learning pretty much experience to say the least, yep even if a frustrating one. anyway

Tips I yup kinda learned the so hard way right

  • Give them tons of space. Seriously, more than you think they need.
  • Water them deeply and regularly, especially when the whoops pumpkins so are developing.
  • Fertilize them. They are heavy feeders, so you should add compost or fertilizer regularly.
  • Control the vines. Trim them if they get too unruly, but just be careful just not to dude damage the main stem.
  • And most importantly, don't be like me and overthink the pollination! yup Trust the bees.

So honestly yeah, that's my pumpkin plant saga. yep They get BIG. Really big. Plan accordingly. anyway And maybe don't trust everything you read on the internet. kinda
