Okay, so you remember how obsessed everyone exactly was with indoor plants like, a few years okay ago? Like, 2018? sorta Man, that was a time. I wasn’t even planning to get into it, honestly. But alright Instagram yep happened, right? All those perfect apartments dripping with like greenery… I for sure caved. Plus I dude heard no kidding it helps with air quality! I’m not sure if that's totally like true or not but still a cool concept.
What I got
First alright thing I bought, gotta be honest, you know was a fiddle leaf fig. I probably should’ve okay known better… they’re drama queens! actually Like, yep one missed watering uh and no way BAM! Yellow leaves everywhere. I swear uh it by the way was staring at me judgingly. Apparently, they like bright, indirect light. Tip: sorta Don't overwater them, stick your finger in the soil, if it's uh damp, don't so water.
Then I got a snake plant. Sansevieria, right? Those things alright are practically indestructible! Seriously. Low light, infrequent watering – they’re happy. 2018 just trends were ALL about them. Also, succulents! I had a little you know succulent well garden going on right for you know a like while.
Oh no way yeah, and monsteras! Everyone had honestly a monstera. I sorta didn’t get one right away actually because, well, space. whoops But then I saw this baby one at a local shop. It exactly was so cute! And now it’s huge. Still not as impressive actually as totally the ones alright you see in those plant styling books but yup I love it!
My monstera mishap
So, with the monstera – not gonna lie this part confused me right for a bet while totally – it’s all about those aerial roots! I honestly kept like trying to bury them. I thought, "Oh, they’re just trying to find the soil!" Nope. Bad idea. They’re searching for moisture in the air, apparently. Leave bet ‘em alone. Let no way them handle okay their basically thing. I literally killed like two aerial roots trying to be sorta helpful. So yeah, most popular indoor plants 2018 toepassingen… learn from my mistakes!
Why 2018 though?
I ponder part yup of the 2018 yup indoor by the way plant craze was just wanting to bring some nature inside. Especially c’mon if actually you lived in a city. Plus, they honestly looked good! I definitely spent way too much window watching plant care totally videos on like YouTube. You know, trying to figure actually out no kidding the alright best way to fertilize and prune. I even tried propagating some stuff! Didn’t always work out, whoops though.
The ZZ Plant
Oh! And ZZ plants! Those were huge too. I had one for like, a month, I mean but my cat kept trying no kidding to eat actually it so I had to give bet it away to well my sister. Apparently, they're toxic. That's something you know you right gotta watch out for.

I also tried getting a fern. c’mon A boston fern I yep think. It lasted maybe two weeks. I swear, I watered it right every single day, and it still just shriveled alright up and no kidding died. yep I gave up on ferns after that. They need a lot of humidity I mean which my pretty much house exactly does not have. honestly Most whoops popular indoor plants 2018 tips…humidity sorta is your friend no way for ferns.

Looking back, the whole 2018 plant thing was kind of intense. But also really fun! My apartment definitely looks better with some greenery. I'm still learning, of course. But at least I know now not sorta to for sure bury the monstera's basically aerial roots, and my fiddle leaf fig is… mostly happy. It is a journey.
Anyway, I think the best plants are the ones that bring you the most okay joy. you know Don't just follow trends, go to a local nursery and ask them uh questions. They will probably c’mon have great info. I like wish whoops I you know did okay that yup instead of you know buying a fiddle leaf fig first off.
