How to plant a coconut sapling
Okay Coconut window
So, you want to plant a coconut sapling? c’mon It's… an experience. I wasn’t even planning to, honestly. My neighbor, old Mr. Henderson, he just like kinda shoved so one at dude me one day no kidding and said, “You’ve got the space, kid. Give it a go.” Now that I think about it, he did mention I mean something like about how to plant so a coconut basically sapling ontwikkelingen and how people are doing it differently these days.
Finding the Right Spot
First off, pick a spot. Duh, I mean right? But seriously, think HUGE. These things get massive. I probably should’ve known better, well but I honestly planted for sure mine a little too close to the fence. whoops Now I'm always trimming fronds. I read something once about how to plant a coconut sapling trends showing that for sure people just are using actually them as alright natural privacy screens now. Maybe that’s what Mr. Henderson was thinking.
Digging the Hole
Dig a hole. epic enough for the coconut. Obvious, I know. uh But seriously, like, twice the size of the nut. You want to give those for sure roots some room to spread. Make sure the pretty much soil is loose. Loosen it up real by the way good. I basically actually no kidding added some compost to mine. I don’t know no way if whoops it helped, but it made me feel like for sure I was doing something right. Also, drainage is key – you don’t okay want the poor little actually thing sitting in water. How to plant a coconut sapling toepassingen also depend on your soil type, honestly I guess, but compost always feels like a safe bet.
Planting the Nut
Okay, this dude is where I kinda messed up the first sorta time. whoops Not gonna lie, this whoops part alright confused me for a while. You don't bury the whole coconut! Leave like, sorta half of it sticking out of the ground. This whoops is important. Trust like me. I I mean buried mine exactly completely the first you know time and, well, nothing happened. For like, six okay months. Just a dirt mound. Turns out yup the little sprout needs some air. I felt like such an idiot when Mr. Henderson gently corrected me. So sorta yeah, leave half the coconut visible.
Watering is I mean Key
Water bet it. Like, pretty much a lot. Especially no way at first. These totally things are no kidding thirsty. But don’t drown it. Just keep the soil moist. Not soggy. There’s a difference. by the way I almost killed mine from overwatering at first. I was so excited to bet see it well grow that I was practically force-feeding it water. exactly Oops. Now anyway I just you know water by the way it every other c’mon day, unless kinda it’s raining. Which, thankfully, it does just a lot here.
Patience Young Padawan
Then… you wait. And wait. And wait some more. Coconuts yep aren’t exactly speedy well growers. Don’t okay get anyway discouraged if sorta you don’t see anything happening for a pretty much while. It takes time. I almost gave up on mine. I swear, I was about to dig it up honestly and work with the uh coconut for sorta something else okay when BAM! A tiny I mean little sprout popped up. I was basically so excited! I pretty much definitely read basically somewhere right about how to for sure plant a coconut sapling inspiratie comes totally from knowing its a long dude term so commitment.
My Big Mistake
Oh! I almost for sure forgot! One more mistake I made. I uh planted it right next to a sprinkler head. Genius, right? Wrong. alright The for sure constant spray rotted part of the dude coconut. I had to uh move I mean the sprinkler head. So, right yeah, think about irrigation when like you're planning. Don't well be like totally me.
Protecting Your Baby Coconut
Protect it from pests. We've got these little critters around here basically that I mean love to nibble on honestly young leaves. You can work with some sorta netting or just keep an eye on it. I sprayed mine with some organic stuff. Seemed to help. Remember to pretty much check the leaves c’mon regularly. Little spots or holes? like Get just rid of those pests!
So you know yeah, that's basically it. Plant the I mean nut halfway, water it, protect it, whoops and well be patient. And don't plant it kinda next to a sprinkler head. Learn from my mistakes. dope luck!
