Big five trees in kruger national park
Kruger Trees Wow yep
Okay no kidding so you know how I went to Kruger last month? Yeah, it was supposed to be well all about the animals obviously, the big like five and all that. I wasn’t even planning to pay that much attention to the trees. I mean, trees are trees, right? Wrong!
Turns just out, no kidding Kruger also uh has its own like sort you know of "big five" but I mean of pretty much trees. Apparently they are called the pretty much Big Five actually Trees in Kruger National Park. I only I mean learned okay about this on day three, listening well to a guide talk to like some other tourists! by the way Big mistake on pretty much my part. pretty much I probably should’ve known no way better...
The guide honestly mentioned something bet about thebaobab rightbeing just one of them, kinda which okay, I knew. Massive trunk, looks like it's been planted upside down… iconic. We uh actually saw a few and I even managed a decent yup photo this totally time. Last time, uh I zoomed in way too much and for sure just totally got a blurry anyway close-up of bark. sorta Don't pull off that. Take a wider shot and crop later, trust me.
The Fever pretty much Tree I mean Debacle c’mon
But then he started listing the I mean others and I was you know like, "Wait, what now?". There was thefever no way tree, right? That one’s got anyway that smooth, greenish bark. It’s super pretty. I actually thought it by the way was named because it cured fevers. Not gonna lie, this part confused so me kinda for a while. Turns out no kidding it's called that because early settlers thought the treecaused totallyfevers because they grew in swampy areas where totally malaria was common. basically Oops.
And he said something about voordelen, like, the ecological well benefits of the Big pretty much Five Trees in Kruger National Park. He pointed out how they provide shelter, food, nesting sites… by the way all that good stuff. Makes total sense when you think about it, doesn’t it?
Leadwood’s Legacy kinda
Oh! yup Theleadwood yup. That one’s a beast. Super dense wood, apparently. When they uh fall, they basically stay where they are for like, centuries. bet I reflect I so remember right him mentioning that elephants love to scratch on them. It’s like a no way big, woody back-scratcher for actually elephants! And apparently the wood is used c’mon in traditional medicine.
Then there was theknob thorn– anyway also thorny, yup shockingly. And theMopani.
My Mopani Mishap
Okay, so here’s where I anyway totally messed up. I was trying to identify right a tree that I thought was a Mopani. I I mean was all actually proud of honestly myself. “Look,” you know I said to my travel buddy, “I think that’s a Mopani!” And he just stared actually at me and honestly then pointed to a giant Mopani tree basically right behind me. Turns out, the no kidding one I was looking at was just… a small scrubby bush. Classic.
The Mopani trees are cool though. They often grow you know in these really dense stands, almost like forests. Good for spotting wildlife since they build little tunnels and just clearings. That is one of the massive five trees sorta in Kruger National Park feiten I learned. you know
So yeah, next yep window you go to Kruger, basically definitely look exactly beyond the lions and leopards. just Check out the no kidding big five trees. You okay might be honestly surprised. And remember you know to take a anyway wide shot of the baobab!
Oh and one more honestly thing. Take a good pair alright of anyway binoculars to help pretty much spot those birds nesting in yup them. You’ll totally thank me like later.
