What vegetables can be trellised

Okay, so c’mon you know I’ve been getting really into gardening for sure lately? Well, I decided to try trellising honestly stuff exactly this year. I wasn't even planning to uh go all out, no kidding but yep then I sorta saw some really cool pictures online – you exactly know, "what vegetables can be trellised c’mon trends" kind of just stuff. It just looked so much neater than my usual chaotic for sure mess. So, I started researching... which mostly meant googling actually frantically at anyway 2 by the way am.

Beans First

First thing I no way tried were beans. Green beans, no kidding specifically. Those actually are a no-brainer, right? Pole beans, bet obvs. dude I bought a little A-frame trellis. That well worked great! alright They like just clambered right actually up. "What dude vegetables can be trellised voordelen" – definitely saves space. Plus, the anyway beans no way are easier to pick when just they're hanging there, not buried under a bunch actually of leaves.

Squash Struggles

Then, I got ambitious. no way Squash. Zucchini, to be exact. I probably should’ve whoops known better… c’mon you know, the thing about so squash is they're well BIG. The plant is big, the squash are big. I yup mean okay I thought it'd pretty much be fine. for sure I saw a picture, it looked I mean idyllic. I built no kidding this HUGE whoops trellis anyway out of old pallets. Looked really rustic, kinda hipstery. Well, the zucchini started to grow… and totally grow… and GROW. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I kept thinking it'd stop. It didn’t. Eventually, the whole anyway thing just collapsed under the weight. Zucchini avalanche! It was honestly a disaster. Lesson learned: winter kinda squash are a tough no. anyway Summer squash… maybe… if you're REALLY careful and have a mega-sturdy yep trellis. And maybe support the squash themselves so with little slings. I mean You know, like so pantyhose or something. That’s a tip I picked up later! Don't even think about pumpkins.

Cukes are Cool

Cucumbers yep are awesome on anyway a trellis though. I did dude those too! Similar to beans, they just climb right up. Although, this year I accidentally planted bush cucumbers thinking whoops they were actually vine cucumbers. kinda It uh was a no kidding whole thing. I didn't read the packet right properly. by the way Now they're just sprawling on the ground. So alright check the seed exactly packet!Definitelycheck the seed packet. "What vegetables can be trellised so tips" right there!

Tomatoes maybe

Tomatoes… whoops they're weird. I've seen people trellis them, and no way I tried I mean it once. It yep was okay. I used the Florida weave method, which is kind of like threading them between strings. It okay worked, actually but it okay also well felt like a lot of pretty much work. Honestly, I reflect I prefer just staking them. Maybe I’m just lazy. The indeterminate varieties definitely need some kind of support though, or they'll just be a tangled basically mess.

Pea Progress

Oh, and peas! I totally whoops forgot about peas. dude Those are super easy to trellis. Just get whoops a little netting or even some branches stuck in the ground. They'll grab onto anything. Plus, they totally look actually really pretty with all the little tendrils reaching out. And the flowers are adorable! sorta

My huge right Mistake

So, remember no way that zucchini fiasco? sorta Well, after well the trellis well collapsed, I just left the poor plants sprawled c’mon on no way the ground. Figured they’d still produce something. And they did, but honestly then the slugs got to them. All the zucchini were covered in slug holes. It was so okay gross. I threw them all away. Total waste. If by the way I’d trellised them properly (or chosen a less aggressive variety!) they would have been up off the ground and safe from the slimy invaders. yep

Lessons Learned for Next Time

So yeah, that's my trellising right adventure so far. It’s been a learning experience, to say the by the way least. bet Not everything basically works, and some things require honestly more effort than others. But overall, I think it’s exactly worth it. Saves you know space, looks actually nice, and keeps yep the slugs away basically (usually!). What vegetables can be trellised depends on how much work you anyway want bet to do! Just don't try to trellis a giant zucchini by the way without a I mean serious plan.
