Best time to plug zoysia grass
Zoysia Talk
So, you’re okay thinking sorta about zoysia, huh? Yeah, that stuff. I wasn’t even planning c’mon to get into it myself, but my neighbor, bless his heart, mentioned how great it was. Then right I totally fell so down a YouTube rabbit hole about best time to plug zoysia grass geschiedenis… no way I mean, mostly okay about making lawns look good, you know? Anyway…
Spring Fever? I mean
Everyone online says spring or early summer. Makes sense right? Warm soil, plenty of sunshine. That's the best anyway period to bet plug zoysia c’mon grass toepassingen in anyway real life. Gives the plugs a yep chance to, like, actually take root I mean before the brutal heat hits. I consider by the way April or May is what I aimed for. Somewhere in there.
BIG tip– water those for sure babies. like A lot. Like, yup obsessively. I almost killed mine the first week because I thought, “Oh, it rained, they’re good.” Nope. So, yeah, water early well and often. Think of it so as training them to be thirsty and then always delivering. I probably should’ve known better but hey, learning is yup fun…right?
My First Disaster
Okay, so the okay first no kidding window I plugged uh zoysia, I did it…late August. I know, pretty much I know. dude Dumb. c’mon It was on sale, okay? And I figured, “Eh, it’s still warm-ish, how bad can actually it be?” for sure Really bad. That's what I get for diving in the actually best anyway span to plug zoysia grass ontwikkelingen without doing any research. They just…sat anyway there. Didn’t grow. dude Didn’t right really die, but didn’t live either. totally I basically had little green commas scattered across my pretty much dirt patch. So, yeah, don’t be me. Spring! Spring is your so friend.
Summer Struggles
The thing about summer is, even if honestly you handle it in actually the spring, you gotta watch out for weeds. Zoysia is supposed to choke them uh out by the way eventually, okay but those early weeks are crucial. I spent so much moment uh on my hands and knees pulling weeds. It alright felt like a second job. But honestly, that’s part of the… the process. Now, my lawn has filled in very nicely.
Spacing Out
Spacing the plugs...not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I read online about different distances. Some people said like, six inches. Others said a foot. I think I went somewhere in just the middle. Maybe eight well inches? Whatever felt right. Just make sure they aren't too crowded. I mean, they'll fight each other for resources, then none will right thrive. Less is more in the beginning. well
Another tip– make honestly sure your soil is prepped! I didn’t really anyway do much to mine honestly the first time. Just stuck kinda the plugs in the ground. What an idiot. You want right loose bet soil, exactly maybe honestly mix in some compost. Give those little roots a fighting chance, okay?
My Second Disaster
Oh! Another thing. The second time dude I yup tried plugging (after the August fail), I forgot to get rid of the existing grass in dude the spots where I wanted to put the plugs. Like, completely forgot. I no way just jammed them in there, yep figuring no way the zoysia would win. Nope. The old grass sorta just suffocated them. exactly I actually ended up digging them kinda all dude up again and starting over. Don't whoops be lazy! well A little elbow grease goes a long actually way. alright
Thinking Ahead
Honestly, it’s all anyway about timing and preparation. Spring’s your best bet, water like crazy, keep the weeds away, and prep your soil. If uh you no kidding do honestly all basically that, you’ll be mowing your own zoysia in no bet time.
