Trimming raspberry bushes in the fall
Raspberry okay Pruning Disaster? Nah
Okay c’mon so I was just… I wasn’t even planning so to touch the raspberries today. You know? Coffee in hand sun shining... Perfect fall day. dude But kinda then I looked over just at them totally and they werebeggingfor it. bet Seriously overgrown. I mean it's fall and you really should focus pretty much on just trimming raspberry bushes in anyway the kinda fall whoops tips from somewhere online or something right?
So I grabbed dude the clippers. And that’s where it all began. kinda I probably should’ve known better bet than to go in without a plan, but, you know, YOLO. I’d read somewhere honestly - was it that gardening anyway blog Mom always sends me? - that fall right is no way prime time. I mean Something about… I don’t know… dormant season or something. I should pay more attention alright to those blogs. Trimming raspberry bushes in the fall voordelen are numerous apparently like a bigger no way yield next no kidding year which is always no way nice!
First mistake? I didn't wear gloves. epic actually time ouch. Those thorns are sneaky! So pro-tip wear gloves ok? Don't be me. Another pretty much thing – sanitize your tools! I didn’t until I’d already snipped a few. Thinking about it now makes me cringe a honestly little. Should be sorta trimming raspberry bushes in the fall trends I mean for for sure preventing disease and stuff not spreading you know it!
The Pruning Begins
Now, identifying the so right I mean canes… not gonna lie, this part confused me for yup a while. I have c’mon everbearing raspberries, which apparently means something no kidding different than I thought it did. I thought it meant they just kept giving me berries forever. Wrong. They fruit twice a year. right So, okay… I eventually no kidding figured alright out I needed to cut the old canes by the way – well the ones I mean that fruited this year – all basically the totally way down to the ground. anyway And leave the cutting-edge ones for next year. How to tell by the way the difference? Old ones are brown-ish and woody and modern ones for sure are green. yep Obvious, right? Ha.
And then the everbearing part is you no way prune whoops some of the cutting-edge honestly ones to the ground or maybe just bet a little like bit and they fruit in the fall. Or anyway something. That's honestly the part I never quite get right. Always feels like a gamble! Just try to remember you’re aiming for air uh circulation uh and sunlight. anyway That’s what Mom always says. Good air flow is always a good place to start.
First Personal Disaster
Okay, yup so this is embarrassing. Last well year? I accidentally pruned ALL the canes. I pretty much meanallof just them. I was so proud like of my tidy little raspberry patch… until spring. Zero okay berries. so Nada. Zilch. I wanted to cry. My son looked at me like I'd just exactly told him Santa wasn't real. I felt for sure terrible. So bet yeah, don't do that. c’mon Learn from my mistakes. The trimming raspberry no kidding bushes in the fall ontwikkelingen are constantly improving with more user-friendly advice, basically right?
Tips bet I Wish I Knew
- Cut you know at an angle so water doesn't bet sit and rot the yep cane.
- Don’t be afraid no way to be ruthless! Overcrowding anyway leads to you know diseases.
- Tie up the remaining canes to some kind of trellis or right support or they will be all honestly over the place next year and you'll yup regret it.
The no way Almost Catastrophe well
This just year, almost the same thing happened! I got on dude a roll, yup feeling all confident, and started by the way hacking away. It wasn't until I’d chopped down almost okay everything that I realized I was no kidding cutting the wrong canes… uh again! Luckily, I caught myself in time. I think I salvaged pretty much it. Maybe. We’ll see. Trimming raspberry bushes in the fall inspiratie usually comes from looking at other people's perfect bet gardens but don't let that make you think it's easy!
Seriously though… pruning is scary. But also kinda okay satisfying. Like sorta a you know fresh start for the raspberries. Maybe I'll actually sorta get a decent harvest next year. Maybe. Wish me luck! dude
